Today at Disney California Adventure: Lunar New Year

We paid a quick visit to California Adventure this afternoon to enjoy the Lunar New Year festivities.

This year the celebration, held in recent years at Disneyland, moved across the Esplanade to California Adventure. The San Francisco Street and Pacific Wharf areas of California Adventure are well suited for the Chinese New Year activities.

The San Francisco Street entrance facing Paradise Bay:

Mulan and Mushu process from the Pacific Wharf to the entrance to San Francisco Street, where they greet the crowds:

The Mulan procession was followed by an enjoyable performance of traditional dances:

Some of the lovely ladies greeting guests and posing for photos along San Francisco Street:

There were character greeting stations, face painting, and special foods being offered, drawing a big crowd:

Trolley Treats on Buena Vista Street had special desserts decorated in red, befitting both the Lunar New Year and Valentine's Day:

This Monday and Tuesday, Annual Passholders can obtain tickets to a free screening of MULAN (1998) in the Disneyland Opera House. Although I won't be able to attend, I do plan to see MULAN next weekend at Disney's El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood.

We also visited the Fantasy Faire exhibit in the Blue Sky Cellar, and I'll be sharing some of those photos in the next couple of days.

Nice to see the Lunar New Year photos. I'm hoping to go this Wednesday and enjoy this Limited Time Magical whatever :) And I really enjoy Potstickers so I'm planning to get them too.

Enjoy, Irene! Saw a photo indicating the castle has some Valentine's decorations if you have time to check it out. :)

Wish I had time to catch the free MULAN screening this week -- but the El Capitan will be fun, too!

Best wishes,
Laura
